Dr.Digvijay Nalwade

Dr Digvijay Nalawade is an Associate Professor in the Department of Cardiology at Dr. D Y Patil Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune. He has several qualifications to his name, including DM (Cardiology) from T.N.Medical College & BYL Nair Ch Hospital, Mumbai, MD (Medicine) from B.J.Medical College & Sassoon Hospital, Pune, and an MBBS from B.J. Medical College & Sassoon Hospital, Pune. He is licensed by the Maharashtra Medical Council, and his registration number is 2008/05/1817.

Dr Nalawade has extensive clinical and teaching experience. He has managed outpatients and inpatients with all types of cardiac ailments in ICCU and wards, performed exercise stress tests, and interpreted Holter monitoring and ambulatory BP monitoring. He is also skilled in performing 2D echocardiography with colour doppler (adult and pediatric), Transoesophageal echocardiography (TEE) including 3D-TEE, stress echocardiography & strain imaging. He actively participates in departmental academics, which includes clinical case discussions and discussions on complex and/or complicated interventional cases performed at their centre. He also conducts regular discussions on upcoming developments in the field of cardiology with the DM (cardiology) students, which includes journal discussions and research topic discussions.

Dr Nalawade has trained postgraduate students (DM & MD) in the Department of Cardiology at TNMC & BYL Nair Ch hospital as Assistant Professor and Associate Professor. He has also trained postgraduate students (MD) in the Department of Medicine at B.J. Medical College, Pune, as an Assistant Professor. During his residency in (MD) Medicine, he taught and trained undergraduate students at B.J. Medical College, Pune. Dr Nalawade is certified in a Research Methodology Workshop course and has done a certified course in advanced imaging, including IVUS, OCT & FFR.

In terms of interventional cardiology experience, Dr Nalawade is proficient in performing diagnostic coronary angiography via transfemoral and transradial route, diagnostic cardiac catheterization, coronary angioplasties (primary, elective) including complex coronary cases (left main, bifurcation, chronic total occlusion, critical TVD) as a primary operator. He also performs advanced imaging and diagnostic procedures, including IVUS, OCT & FFR as a primary operator, and performs and assists rotablation procedures. He performs therapeutic balloon valvotomies for mitral, pulmonary, and aortic valve as the primary operator, and therapeutic transcatheter interventions for ASD, PDA & VSD as the primary operator, and assisted transcatheter interventions for RSOV & Coarctation. Additionally, Dr Nalawade performs implantation of permanent pacemakers (Single, dual chamber), ICD & CRT.

Dr. Nalawade has received numerous awards and achievements throughout his academic career. During his graduation, he ranked second in Anatomy subject in State University exams (2003). During his post-graduation, he received an award for appreciation regarding good patient care given by Late Mr. Kanhaiya lalji Kirad Social Handicap Medical Foundation, Pune (2010). Additionally, he has won several awards at the zonal/state/national level, including the First in Dr Deodhar post-graduate rheumatology quiz, zonal round (west zone) conducted at Armed Forces Medical College, Pune (2011), the Second in quiz on tropical medicine conducted during National Medicine Update (Milestones in Medicine 2011) conducted at Armed Forces Medical College, Pune (2011), and the Third in Annual National Neurology Quiz conducted by Neuroclub and M. G. M. Medical College, Indore (2008)
